Online lunar geology course

Wednesday, October 20, 2004

I have signed up for an online lunar geology course starting on November 1, 2004. It's a cool course with a first rate instructor, planetary geologist Chuck Wood.

Lunar enthusiasts and amateur astronomers probably know him mostly for his popular Lunar Photo of the Day site: each day a stunning picture of the Moon commented by Chuck. But he has an impressive background and worked with some of the greatest planetary scientists such as Bill Hartmann, Gerard Kuiper and Don Wilhelms. If these names don't tell much to you, you may not know that Chuck Wood and his colleague Lew Ashwal were the first to demonstrate the existence of meteorites coming from Mars.

In other words, it's like being taught Lisp by McCarthy or Steele.
