Valle d'Aosta observatory instrumentation course

Thursday, November 25, 2004

I live in Milano, Italy, and I am going to spend the week end at Osservatorio Astronomico della Valle d'Aosta. It is an astronomical observatory on the Alps, in the nort-western part of the country. It was completed less than a year ago and is used for both public outreach and research activities.

I will attend a short course on the use of the observatory's instrumentation. This is a prerequisite for requesting observing time and doing my own research projects.

The observatory has a lot of good instruments, the largest of which is an 80 cm reflector. It is also stuffed with lots of auxiliary equipment.
