About me and this weblog |
|
In the very first entry of this new weblog I will tell something about me and the topics I plan to cover here, mostly Lisp. If you are a Lisper, you may have already run across me in some mailing list or online forum.
My name is Paolo Amoroso and I live in Milano, Italy, where I work in the field of astronomy education and popularization. I currently do part-time work for two institutions: Civico Planetario "Ulrico Hoepli" (Hoepli planetarium), the largest in Italy, and Sezione di Storia della Fisica (Istituto di Fisica Generale Applicata -- Università degli Studi di Milano) located at the Brera Astronomical Observatory. The latter is quite a mouthful, but it simply means the history of physics section (with offices at the local observatory; please don't confuse the section with the observatory, otherwise both institutions will get mad at me) of the school of physics at the local university.
In this weblog I will mostly cover Lisp, particularly Common Lisp and CLIM. I may occasionally also talk about my other interests: astronomy (especially the Moon) and space exploration (especially Apollo and the early pioneering manned programs up to Skylab).
I am very interested in Lisp. I have been interested in the Lisp family of programming languages, and closely following the Lisp world, since 1990. I finally decided to concentrate on Lisp, and mostly ignore other languages, around 1998. Since I haven't done any substantial Lisp project, it's difficult to quantify my experience. But I can tell for sure that I share with gurus the enthusiasm for Lisp.
