Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli assigned to crew for Shuttle flight STS-120

The European Space Agency has officially announced the assignment of astronaut Paolo Nespoli to the crew for Shuttle flight STS-120 scheduled for the summer of 2007.

I met Nespoli on a number of occasions since 2000, and had the privilege of spending some time with him. This will be his first space flight. I am really happy and excited because he has been working hard for this opportunity for a lot of time.

I wish Nespoli and his crew a 101% successful mission.
