April Fool's Day 2006: CL Directory rewritten in Python
Opinions on the Common Lisp Directory are -- how can I put it? -- "mixed". But I hope that there is wider consensus on its ability to generate a few laughs.
A few days ago Marc Battyani conceived a prank for the upcoming April
Fool's Day. Yesterday he announced
comp.lang.lisp and other forums that the CL
Directory server software had been rewritten in Python, as a spoof of
the Reddit rewrite from Common
Lisp to Python.
Amazingly, at least a couple of experienced programmers
apparently bit. See this
post and the
logs (start at 05:41:18).
