Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 raises privacy concerns |
|
According to the March 31, 2005 issue of Linux Weekly News, Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 can log the user's PDF reading habits, and send the information to a third party via Internet. This feature can fortunately be turned off by disabling JavaScript, but it raises legitimate privacy concerns. The LWN article reporting on this feature will be available also to non-paying subscribers from April 7, 2005.
Incidentally, the good folks at LWN need their readers' help again (scroll down to A quick LWN update; article available to non-subscribers from April 7, 2005). The story I mention here is another example of their integrity and unbiased reporting. And, as a Lisper, I have some more reasons to support them.
